Was travelling by bus tday, and as usual there was hardly any space to stand. I was standing near those front seats that are meant for ladies, seats that have the word "Ladies" indicated in English and Marathi. Surprisingly there are so few seats that are reserved for the handicapped.
The lady standing behind me asked one of the men to vacate the seat reserved for women. The man objected a little, but eventually gave up the seat. Another gentleman facing me suggested that i do the same. I told him, very politely that I don't mind standing.
The entire incident was so amusing. I wonder at such women, who on one hand demand equality with men and on the other hand expect treatment deserved by the "weaker".

Very true JI. Its good to see people think this way. Its a wonderful thought, accept yourself as you are, without being hell-bent on proving anything. Men and women they are certainly not similar and this dissimilarity should be respected. The other thing is there can be no comparision between dissimilar entities, you can never say a dog is equal to a bitch ( no offence meant) nor can you ever say an orange is similar to an apple. My exeperiences have made it crystal clear that the best and the most happiest way to live is to accept yourself the way you are, weak or strong male or female the way you are meant to be.
I feel sorry for the women (and for the men too) who keep defying their true self just to prove that they are equal, independent and free. I don't mean women are not independent or shouldnt be, but independence and freedom are relative terms and have got more to do with the mind and psyche then the physical and material abilities. The moment you try and prove this you concentrate more on physical and material abilities and you lose the very independence and freedom. Why am I writing all this here
I think that people who have a problem with the word 'different' somehow equate it with being 'lesser', as if not being exactly the same as everyone else makes you inferior, which is utter and complete nonsense. It's a highschool clique mentallity, and shows a great deal of immaturity, in my opinion.

J.I, Amit and Vijay:
Men and women are completely different. Observations are generalizations, or course, but they are fairly obvious.
Men and women need to start accepting that they are fundamentally different creatures , but not fundamentally different in their souls. I feel it's infinitely more humanizing, insightful, and fun to explore each other's differences, treasure them, and laugh at them than it is to tell ourselves these differences aren't there.
